Spring 2011

  • Idea for centre conceived and discussions with some members of the community
  • Members visited the Sparwood pool to talk with the manager about pools and financing of a recreation complex
  • Vision and  Mission Statements as well as other preliminary documents(pros and cons list and attributes list) were developed
  • Members met with a representative from Community Futures to discuss the Crowsnest Community Fund and how it could assist the Society.

Nov 8th 2011

  • Members met with the Municipal council and town administrator to share the vision, mission and other documents. The  Society could provide the framework for a concerted effort by the citizens of the Crowsnest Pass for  a Community Complex. Council thanked members for the efforts of the society and supported in concept this Citizen’s Initiative to move ahead.

Nov 2011

  • Members signed documentation for Society to become registered as a legal society in Alberta.
  •  On November 28th a contingent met with the Cultural and Recreation Board to share the vision mission and other papers. One member from the board was identified to liaise with the Society.

Dec 8th 2011

  • Society met to discuss the organization framework and start a membership drive. Group started a brain storming exercise to get ideas from the membership on how to move forward

December 15th   2011

  • Society became legally registered..

January 30th   2012

  • First Annual AGM for Society took place at the Curling Arena Lounge at 7 PM in the upstairs of the Curling arena.
  • Presentation to Attendees on the Society and Accomplishments to date.
  • Election of Executive
  • Expansion of Brainstorming Session from Dec. 8th Meeting. Gathering more information and ideas from members

May 15th   2012

  • General Meeting of the membership and open to the public at the Elk’s Hall in Blairmore.
  • An opportunity to explain the society, show accomplishments to date and recruit both new members and volunteers.
